A Note From Our Pastor
Welcome to October! The colors are changing and fall is in the air. It's time to get to all those fall traditions that we enjoy; apple orchards, donuts and of course cider. October is also the time of year that we celebrate harvest. My wife and I have just returned from General Conference and it was a time of refreshing in the Lord. There are great things happening all across our movement. I believe that this is our time of harvest! Scripture lets us know that we are to plant and water and God gives the increase. So what does “plant and water” look like?
When we plant we are simply talking to others about the Lord. But as we know, harvest is more than just planting a seed and walking away. What do we need to do to make sure the seed that is planted grows? A farmer will make sure the weeds are pulled and the seeds are fertilized. When we talk about this in a church setting, planting and fertilizing is called discipleship. Discipleship is more than a class that is taught, it is each one of us finding someone to be a friend to. When we come along side someone, we help them grow in the knowledge of God.
Watering is our prayers. It is us praying for each other and asking the Lord to help our brothers and sisters. Prayer is imperative. Through prayer, God can do what we can not do. When others cannot be there, God is always there. I want to challenge you to find some one to pray for. Find some one who you can disciple.
There are several things that are happening this month at our churches. We begin our lessons on Spiritual Gifts and will be looking at each gift and how it operates in our lives. Spiritual Gifts are something we should desire to operate in our lives. Join us on Sundays at 10 a.m. Also this month is our annual Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 29th at 5:00p.m. It is a safe place for you to bring your children for candy and games!
We will also be looking at next year’s calendar this month. We are excited about what God is doing and we want to prepare for the future. Pray with us as we are in this process.
I would like to thank each of you for your prayers during our house hunting process. We have purchased a home and will let you know when it is ready for visitors! We look forward to having you in our home for different events through the years.
God Bless you as we work together in the harvest
